Laquan is an energetic, happy and curious youngster who loves Barney and music! He is quick on his feet, loves to explore his surroundings and particularly enjoys playing outside however he needs a caregiver to create and remind him of safe boundaries in and outside the home. This resilient and smart little boy is flourishing in preschool where he is learning new words, concepts, and a tolerance for sitting and structured activities. Though he remains highly distractible he is redirected and engaged with the assistance of a one on one aide. The speech, physical and occupational therapies he receives at school strengthen his mild developmental delays. He is now using three and four word sentences and has even learned some Spanish from his caretaker. Laquan is an affectionate and loving child who is working to decrease aggressive peer interactions. At times Laquan repetitively goes up and down steps. He likes one on one attention from his caregivers and attaches quickly. The ideal family for Laquan will include two active caretakers who are patient and able to provide a lifetime of ample attention and structure while continuing to advocate for his special medical, developmental and educational needs. Laquan should be the youngest child in the home.
